Một số thành ngữ tiếng Anh trong chương 27 (Lolita)
1. fall under someone's spell:
a. Lit. to come under the magical control of a magician or similar person. The damsel fell under the wizard's spell and sat there speechless. As the children fell under the witch's spell, they went to sleep.
b. Fig. to be fascinated by someone; to be enchanted by someone. She was so beautiful. I fell under her spell at once. Wally fell under Donna's spell and became helpless in her presence.
2. something of sorts: an inferior example of a kind of something. Well, it's a solution of sorts, I suppose. It was a novel of sorts, but not what I'd ever have chosen.
3. clear your throat: to give a small cough. She cleared her throat before she began to speak. I wanted to say something, so I cleared my throat to get everyone's attention.
4. Armlets: (Clothing & Fashion) a very short sleeve on a garment.
5. for all the world:
a. for any consideration, however great: She wouldn't come to visit us for all the world.
b. in every respect; precisely: You look for all the world like my Aunt Mary.
6. if you must know: You say `if you must know' when you tell someone something that you did not want them to know and you want to suggest that you think they were wrong to ask you about it.
`Why don't you wear your jogging shorts Mum?'
'Well, my legs are too skinny, if you must know.'
7. all in good time: at some future time; in the near future; in good time; soon. (This phrase is used to encourage people to be patient and wait quietly.) When will the baby be born? All in good time. Mary: I'm starved! When will Bill get here with the pizza? Tom: All in good time, Mary, all in good time.
8. poker face: INFORMAL - a face without expression, as that of a poker player attempting to conceal the value of his cards

7. Câu này trong phim hay thấy nè. Mình nhớ trong American Pie, nhân vật Sherminator có nói câu này một cách rất "nhây" hehe.. "all in good time, my friend, all in good time"
